A variety of specific tumor-seeking radiopharmaceuticals have been commercialized for radiotherapy. However, most of these therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals are not applied to patients clinically in Taiwan because of difficulty in importing these drugs from other countries and their high expense. Therefore, the Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER) in Taiwan has been putting their efforts on developing these therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals and several kinds of therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals have been developed successfully in the past few years. Y-lipiodol, Re-lipiodol and Remicrosphere are developed for the therapy of hepatoma, Re-HEDP for metastatic bone pain and Re-sulfur colloid for malignant ascites. Pre-clinical studies of these radiopharmaceuticals are being carried out and clinical trials will be conducted soon.

Development of 177Lu-phytate Complex for Radiosynovectomy
Objective(s): In this work a new possible agent for radiosynovectomy has been targeted for articular pain palliation. Materials and Methods: Lu-177 of 2.6-3 GBq/mg specific activity was obtained by irradiation of natural Lu2O3 sample with thermal neutron flux of 4 × 1013 n.cm-2.s-1. The product was converted into chloride form which was further used for labeling of 177Lu-phytate complex and che...

Introduction: In this research, [166Ho]Holmium chitosan complex production is described in details, followed by determination of complex radiochemical purity, stability and biodistribution (after intra-articular injection) in wild-type male rats. Finally a Ho-166 based chitosan kit for ultimate radiosynovectomy as well as radiotherapy applications was developed. Methods: 166</s...
متن کاملSystemic Targeted Alpha Radiotherapy for Cancer
Background: The fundamental principles of internal targeted alpha therapy for cancer were established many decades ago.The high linear energy transfer (LET) of alpha radiation to the targeted cancer cellscauses double strand breaks in DNA. At the same time, the short range radiation spares adjacent normal tissues. This targeted approach complements conventional external beam radiotherapy and ch...
متن کاملSmall Hydro-Power Plants in Kenya: A Review of Status, Challenges and Future Prospects
Small Hydro-power Plants (SHP) are an important source of electricity in many countries. However, little is known about SHP in Kenya. This paper reviews the status, challenges in implementation of SHP and prospects for future development of SHP in Kenya. The paper shows that SHP has not yet fully utilized the available hydro-power potential. The challenges associated with SHP development should...
متن کاملRadiation-induced Non-targeted Effect and Carcinogenesis; Implications in Clinical Radiotherapy
Bystander or non-targeted effect is known to be an interesting phenomenon in radiobiology. The genetic consequences of bystander effect on non-irradiated cells have shown that this phenomenon can be considered as one of the most important factors involved in secondary cancer after exposure to ionizing radiation. Every year, millions of people around the world undergo radiotherapy in order to cu...
